AMMAN – The Community Empowerment Center (CEC), based in Jordan, and the “Syrian House for Development and Community Empowerment” signed a strategic partnership agreement today, aimed at supporting institutional development and empowering youth and women in Syria.
The year-long renewable agreement was signed by Dr. Ziad Hosni Al-Najjar, Director General of the CEC, and Mr. Iyad Khalifa, the Syrian foundation’s representative in Jordan. The partnership focuses on several key pillars, including the design of joint programs in political participation, social cohesion, and sustainable development. It also emphasizes capacity building through specialized training modules in leadership, women’s economic empowerment, and digital media, alongside coordinating international advocacy and mobilizing support for developmental causes, and conducting joint research and impact assessment studies.
Dr. Al-Najjar stated that this partnership “seeks to transfer accumulated Jordanian expertise and strengthen the capacities of Syrian institutions during their transitional phase.” He emphasized that investing in the empowerment of local communities is a “fundamental pillar for regional security and stability.”
For his part, Mr. Khalifa noted that this initiative “places Syrian institutions at the heart of the decision-making process to build local capacities capable of leading the recovery path.” He added that “the implementation mechanism of this agreement includes the formation of a joint coordination committee and the development of annual work plans, with a full commitment to transparency and the laws in force in both countries.”
The Community Empowerment Center is a leading non-profit company specialized in training and awareness programs, while the “Syrian House” foundation works to promote community development and sustainable growth within Syria.
